Laughter in his eyes, mischief in his grin
To describe my brother where can I begin?
The day that he left was a dark one indeed
And every day since has flown by with a speed
I'm glad that it has, to recall is such pain
It doubles me over to just think of his name
Always helping others, generous to a fault
And never even thinking of himself to exalt
Everything he had was for people to share
That quality in itself is one that's so rare.
The door of his home was always wide open
"Come on in" he said, his voice soft spoken
Relaxed in the kitchen, boy could he cook!
And a hungry stomach, he never forsook
Eating and drinking with friends gave him joy
His culinary talents he loved to employ
He would call me and ask how to make a meatball
Still.....a meal with Matt was one to recall
We'd laugh till we cried, he would joke and tease
His outlook on life filled with humor and ease
There never was a negative thought in his head
Celebrating his life is what he chose instead
Always in high spirits and thoroughly content
He just made you see how real living was meant
Although a whole year has quickly passed by
To think of you still makes me mourn and cry
Mostly I miss how you and I slipped away
"We need time together, Sis" you would say
What a privelege to have such a brother and friend
To see you again would make my heart mend
The bible assures us, we have a fine hope
That we'll see you again sure helps me to cope
As the days pass us by we continue to wait
For a new healthy body will our God create
We'll all be there waiting for you.....brother dear
For your face, your smile and your laughter to hear
